Award-winning speaker Julie S. Lalonde: Creating a Consent Culture: Understand the Links between Sexual Violence and Stalking

Award-winning speaker, author and women’s rights advocate Julie S. Lalonde will be at Dawson Feb. 20 to deliver her talk “Creating a Consent Culture: Understand the Links between Sexual Violence and Stalking.”
This event is open to the Dawson College community of employees and students.
Those who attend:
- can gain an understanding of the reality of stalking (ie: criminal harassment) in Canada and how it’s part of the sexual violence continuum
- learn about techniques for supporting survivors of stalking in your life (personally and professionally).
Sponsored by Human Resources and Student Services, the 90-minute event will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 20 in 5B.16 at Dawson at 10 AM and repeated at 2 PM.
About the speaker: Yellow Manteau is the consultancy of Julie S. Lalonde, an internationally recognized public educator and women’s rights advocate. Julie works with various organizations dedicated to ending gender-based violence, engaging bystanders and building communities of support. Julie has won numerous awards for her work including the Governor General’s Award in Commemoration of the Persons Case. Her memoir Resilience is Futile: The Life and Death and Life of Julie S. Lalonde won the 2020 Ontario Speaker’s Award and was named one of the best books of the year by CBC Books and The Hill Times.
