This presentation will explore the history of anti-Black discrimination in Canada, the transnational impact of anti-Black racism historically, and suggest the importance of both implicit bias—and implicit bias training—for educators and professionals. This workshop will propose implicit bias training as one tool for reckoning with the legacy of Canada’s history of anti-Black racism and pose questions about its significance in light of our recent emboldened global conservativism.
