Interested in how actions determines the survival of Indigenous peoples, Jobena Petonoquot creates work which instigates a dialogue and encourages viewers to delve further into the history and experiences of Indigenous people in Canada.  Concomitantly, her work speaks to the importance of passing histories, family stories, knowledge and skills from one generation to another.

Book Club Meeting

Our first Book Club Meeting is Friday September 13th from 10am-11:15am in 8B.14 – up at New School. We will be reading Chapter 1 “How Does Students’ Prior Knowledge Affect Their Learning?” in How Learning Works (Ambrose et al., 2010). We would love people to come early from 9:30am-10am, and chat informally over coffee until we start at 10am. See you there!

Faculty and Staff are invited to join Kanerahtiio Hemlock, Indigenous social studies teacher/cultural coordinator at the First Nation Regional Adult Education Center in Kahnawake, for a session on Indigenous Pedagogy. Come and explore the different ways to incorporate Indigenous pedagogy across the disciplines in a post-secondary classroom.
