Student Engagement in Campus Sustainability

Presentation for Environmental Studies Seminar

Thursday, September 14, 2017

4C.1

10:00 a.m.-11:15 a.m.

During the summer of 2017 five Dawson College students, Maggie Blondeau, Vanessa Poirier, Jade Boutot, Dimitrios Markou and Annie Quadros spent six weeks in Mexico doing an internship on Campus Sustainability. The internships are part of the Sustainable Campuses Initiative, a partnership between Dawson College and several Mexican universities in the state of Morelos. The Dawson interns will share the learning and experience gained at the Preparatoria Comunitaria de Tres Marias and the Universidad Politecnica del Estado de Morelos, as well as offer reflections on their overall experience living in Mexico. The presentation will also include the participation of Mitzy Chavez, an environmental engineering student from the UPEMOR who is the recipient of the Emerging Leaders of the Americas Program’s scholarship, Susie Bouchard from Dawson’s International Development Office and Gisela Frias who coordinates the Sustainable Campuses initiative.

The Sustainable Campuses Initiative is a partnership project that aims to generate and share knowledge on campus sustainability. For more information see
