MICHELLE LACOMBE – Artist Talk

February 27 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Free

Michelle Lacombe will be doing a public talk about her unique body-based art practice at the Warren G. Flowers Art Gallery. Lacombe’s work, located at the intersection of performance, drawing, and body art, often uses body-modification techniques and embodied actions to question the subjectivity of the white cis-gendered female body, and the cultural constructions that surround it. Her work has been shown in Canada, the USA, Argentina, and Europe in the context of performance events, exhibitions, and colloquiums. Her practice as an artist is paralleled by a commitment to supporting action art and other undisciplined practices. She is currently the director of VIVA! Art Action.

This artist’s talk precedes Lacombe’s action-based exhibition at the gallery, Hairdresser’s Hymn to Venus, happening from March 4-12.
