Dawson in Costa Rica 2018

February 1 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Ecology & Culture is an intensive complimentary course offered every Winter semester. Students registered in the course travel to Costa Rica in January prior to the start of the semester to complete the majority of their course work. This course provides engaging learning opportunities, unique experiences, and avenues for personal growth.

Students explore multiple environments including the tropical dry forest, the tropical wet forest and coastal ecosystems. They get to explore flora and fauna hands-on, studying adaptations to different environments in one of the most biodiverse places on the planet. All the while by being completely immersed in local culture; experiencing traditions, food and everyday life with their homestay families. They learn about history, economy, and culture of this country as well as how local people earn a living; getting to participate in farming, fishing and tourism activities.

Presenters: Our 20 keen and adventurous students taking the Ecology & Culture complimentary course this semester are presenting their experiences in an information session this Thursday, February 1st at 10:00 in room 4C.1. Stop in to hear about their experiences and learn about the course, especially if you are interested in registering for Winter 2019! Remember it is a complimentary course, open to all students.
